Mekhi Brown went to Tuscaloosa on Saturday with the thought of checking out a particular player who the Alabama staff said he reminded them of.
"I wanted to meet Adrian Hubbard," the Columbus (Ga.) Carver standout, who stands at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds despite being just a sophomore. "He plays my position and I could see what he does on assignments.
“I see myself being somewhat like him. A pass-rusher, it makes me work.”
Brown did so while taking in Alabama's scrimmage during the day, and a pair of 2013 signees, also from the Peach State, who helped him learn a bit more about 'Bama while on campus.
"I met Alvin Kamara and Tyren Jones," he said. "They were trying to recruit me some, and telling me what to look forward to doing and not doing during recruiting."
Then the elite class of 2015 talent, who already held several SEC offers including one from the defending champs, did something neither four-star from his state did in their own process.
He committed early to Alabama.
The tone of the scrimmage and everything that came with Alabama helped shape his decision earlier in the day.
"It's a real good vibe," Brown admitted. "It's just a great place."
The defensive end/outside linebacker prospect joins Deionte Thompson on Alabama's class of 2015 commitment list.
