Williams announces for Alabama

At a rangy 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, Chris Williams shot up recruiting boards after an impressive junior season. Alabama offered in the winter and the four-star safety announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Tuesday.

Class of 2014 cornerback prospect Kalvarez Bessent became Alabama's first defensive commitment for the cycle on March 12, and the Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County prospect immediately began working on good friend and fellow four-star teammate Chris Williams.

It took a week.

On Tuesday afternoon, Williams announced his commitment to Alabama on Twitter.

"Committed to Alabama Today. God is Good," he posted.

Williams plays safety for Camden County, listed at a rangy 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. Both defensive back prospects, poised to play together at the next level, are four-stars on FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com.

"The campus is all-good," he said of the defending champs earlier this month. "I visited them and had a one-on-one with Nick Saban, it was pretty nice. They care about academics, too. It's real serious."

Williams, ranked the No. 26 safety prospect in the nation in addition to being a Scout300 member, chose Alabama over offers for Auburn, Ohio State and Ole Miss among others.
