Tide Gymnasts Defeat UCLA

In a battle of NCAA Champions, the Alabama gymnastics team came out on top against the UCLA Bruins Friday night, 197.075-196.375 in front of 11,775 fans in Coleman Coliseum. Junior Kim Jacob won her fifth all-around title of the season, tying her career-high of 39.425.



Sophomore Kaitlyn Clark led Alabama on the vault with a 9.9, which ties her season and career-best score. Senior Ashley Sledge opened for the Crimson Tide uneven bars rotation with a 9.85, pacing Alabama to a 49.0 team score. On the balance beam, senior Ashley Priess scored a season-best 9.925 to push the Tide to a 49.350. The Tide closed out the night with a 49.450 on the floor exercise paced by career-best 9.95s from Jacob and junior Diandra Milliner.

Alabama returns to the road for its next meet, traveling to Baton Rouge, La., for a Southeastern Conference showdown on March 8, before returning to Coleman Coliseum to close out the regular season against No. 1 Oklahoma on March 15.
