Alabama wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator Mike Groh is leaving for a job with the Chicago Bears, but the Crimson Tide has already hired Florida State assistant Billy Napier as his replacement.

Win a national championship or two—or three in four years if you’re Alabama—and members of your coaching staff will become hot commodities for jobs all around the country.

The latest Crimson Tide assistant to leave is Mike Groh, who is going to take a job with the Chicago Bears. He will be replaced by Florida State tight ends coach/recruiting coordinator Billy Napier, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

24/ was the first to report the news.

Napier, 32, was hired by FSU in January. He spent last season as Colorado State’s assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach under former Alabama offensive coordinator and current CSU head coach Jim McElwain.

Before that Napier served as Clemson’s offensive coordinator (2009-10) and was on Alabama’s staff as an offensive quality control assistant (2011).

Groh joined the Tide in 2011 after spending one year as Louisville’s quarterbacks coach.

Other Alabama assistants who have left for new opportunities this offseason have been defensive backs coach Jeremy Pruitt, who accepted an offer to become Florida State’s defensive coordinator, and offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, who left for the same position with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Alabama has hired Greg Brown to replace Pruitt and Mario Cristobal to replace Stoutland.
