First Look: Irish Defense
Notre Dame's defense surrendered just nine touchdowns in 2012, remarkably, just two via the rush. Over the team's last 33 outings, only four running backs have scored a touchdown vs. the Irish, and three of those occurred when the Irish led by at least 30 points. (Pittsburgh's Ray Graham, a 14-yard run that gave Pittsburgh the lead this season, ranks as the lone exception). The key to the team's overall success is its defensive front, one that stops the run first, then attacks the passer with 31 of the defense's 34 sacks courtesy of its defensive linemen and their reserves.
