Hill injured on senior night

Grant Hill

Alabama commit Grant Hill suffered what looked like a bad injury on Thursday night and BamaMag.com was on hand to get his reaction soon after. The four-star updates his status this morning with the absolute latest following a visit to the doctor.

The night was setting up quite nicely for Grant Hill and Huntsville (Ala.) High school on Thursday. It was senior night, the team had clinched a playoff berth the week before and the game against Hazel Green (Ala.) was going to be a smooth win to continue momentum into the post season.

Nothing went according to plan.

Not only did Hazel Green fire on all cylinders en route to a 24-3 win to spoil the festivities on a cold night, but Hill didn't play most of the game after suffering a left ankle injury in the first quarter. He tried to give it a go soon after, but could not put much pressure on it. The training staff wrapped it up and he was sidelined for the rest of the night.

"I'm disappointed because I tweaked my ankle tonight," said Hill after the game. "But I'll definitely be back next week. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger….it (the loss) will light a fire for us."

The play in which the four-star Alabama commit suffered the injury seemed routine from the sidelines, but it was shielded from conventional view.

"There was a pile and somebody jumped or fell on my ankle, so it was rolled out," he said.

Though visibly painful and limiting, Hill admits that trying to get on the field after something like that wasn't worth it considering the Panthers had already won enough to continue playing.

"Every game is important to me, but we have a playoff game next week," he added. "This game, it just wasn't right to keep playing."

On Friday morning, Hill spoke of a trip to the doctor.

"I got an X-ray and it came back good," said the 6-foot-6, 300-pounder. "The doctor said I can go as I feel, so that's all good news.

"It's just a tweak, nothing broken, nothing bruised, nothing torn. Just tweaked it…"

The offensive lineman, who plays right tackle for Huntsville, should be back on the field in time for the playoffs against Florence (Ala.). But before he continues to try and get better, he'll sit down with his family and watch his Crimson Tide take on LSU in a highly anticipated showdown and rematch of the BCS National Championship game.

"I'm pretty confident that Alabama can get it done, but I'm always nervous about big games like this," he said with a smith. "Two good teams going at it…hopefully Alabama can come out on top."

Hill will likely attend the Alabama -Texas A&M game (Nov. 10) or the Auburn game (Nov. 24) before taking an official visit to Tuscaloosa sometime in December. The No. 4 offensive guard prospect on FOX Sports NEXT and Scout.com doesn't plan on taking visits to any other school trying to recruit him.
