It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood Monday as No. 1 Alabama (6-0, 3-0 SEC) began preparing for Tennessee (3-3, 0-3). The sun was out and it was a breezy 79 degrees.
Head coach Nick Saban said at his press conference earlier this morning that all players who sustained injuries against Missouri were “OK.” The media was granted one period to watch today’s practice. Here are some observations:
--Quarterback A.J. McCarron scared fans when he went down with a bruised knee Saturday in dreary Columbia, Mo. He continued to play on it and looked fine in practice today. He was wearing a knee brace, but it didn’t appear to prevent him from doing anything during the drills. (See for yourself in the video below.)
McCarron has not been made available to the media yet since hurting his knee.
--Wide receiver Christion Jones (sprained ankle) did not run routes during the media viewing period, but he was not wearing a black no-contact jersey, which suggests he probably did participate in drills later on.
--Wide receiver Kevin Norwood (foot, ankle, knee…aka, nagging injuries) didn’t run routes during the media viewing period, either. He had his left knee wrapped up.
--Running back Eddie Lacy (hand) practiced as expected. He did have his right hand wrapped up though. It looked pretty swollen during player interviews this morning.
