Aside from winning, if there’s anything that makes the No. 1 team in the nation smile during the middle of the week, it’s probably hearing an upcoming opponent publicly throw down some smack talk.
It hasn’t really worked out well for Alabama opponents this season though. Just ask a couple of Western Kentucky players who were all-talk the week before they came to Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Tide followed up by steamrolling the Hilltoppers 35-0.
Same thing has happened this week with Florida Atlantic defensive end Cory Henry, who had a very confident response when asked about facing Alabama.
“They ain’t what people think,” he said, according to Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post. “They’re good and everything but they can be beat, too. They just execute well. They execute and beat you.”
Alabama is a 51-point favorite heading into this matchup. But that clearly doesn’t bother the Owls.
“We got speed against them,” Henry continued. “You got speed you can win.”
Guess we’ll see on Saturday.
