Just like in the USA Today/Coaches' Poll, Alabama is ranked No. 2 in the season's first AP poll. But in this poll, USC is ranked first instead of LSU, who came in at No. 3.

The Preseason AP Top 25 was released this morning and just like in the USA Today/Coaches’ Poll, Alabama is ranked No. 2. But this time it isn’t LSU that got the most first place votes, it was USC. The Tigers are ranked third.

USC got 25 first place votes, Alabama had 17 and LSU received 16.

Oklahoma and Oregon round out the top five, while Georgia, Florida State, Michigan, South Carolina and Arkansas follow to make up the top 10.

The Crimson Tide play two top 10 teams—No. 8 Michigan and No. 10 Arkansas—in the first three weeks of the season and both games are on the road.

Six SEC teams are in the AP Top 15, five of whom are in the Top 10.
