Alabama guard leaves basketball team

The Alabama men's basketball team announced Wednesday that guard Ben Eblen has decided to forgo his senior season and graduate in December. This leaves the Tide with 10 scholarship players.

The Alabama men's basketball team has announced that guard Ben Eblen will forgo his senior season and graduate in December.

"I want to thank the basketball program, the University, the Tuscaloosa community and my teammates for the best three years of my life," Eblen said in a statement. "The relationships and memories created in Tuscaloosa will last a lifetime. Representing the University of Alabama has been a privilege I'm thankful for and I'm eager to receiver my degree and begin the next chapter of my life."

Eblen, who stands at 6-feet, 191 lbs., appeared in 92 games over the past three seasons and averaged 8.2 minutes per game.

"We appreciate everything Ben has brought to our program over the last three years and wish him the absolute best in his future endeavors," head coach Anthony Grant said.

Eblen's departure leaves the Crimson Tide with 10 scholarship players.
