Another day, another accolade for Alabama.

Crimson Tide golfer Brooke Pancake has been named the 2012 Capital One Division I Academic All-America of the Year, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Pancake, who majored in marketing and graduated with a 4.00 GPA, led Alabama to its first NCAA women’s golf national championship in May. She clinched the title with a four-foot putt for par on the 18th hole to give the Tide a one-stroke victory.

Throughout her college career, Pancake was a three-time All-American and SEC Women’s Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year and a four-time All-SEC selection.

“What a special honor to be recognized as the Capital One Division Academic All-America of the Year,” Pancake said in a statement. “It is extremely humbling to be selected as the top student-athlete across all sports for my senior year. My performance in the classroom was always just as important to me as my play on the course during my time at Alabama.

“I was blessed to be able to accomplish so much in both settings. It was such a privilege to earn my degree from the University of Alabama while also helping to build the Crimson Tide women’s golf program into one of the nation’s best.”

Earlier this summer, Pancake received myriad awards, such as the Paul W. Bryant Award, honoring Alabama’s most outstanding female student-athlete and SEC Female Athlete of the Year.
