Thursday morning, the Football Writers Association of America released its 2012 Outland Trophy Watch List.
Alabama senior center Barrett Jones, who won the award last year, headlines a group of 71 interior linemen.
Jones, who stands at 6-foot-5, 302 lbs., has switched from offensive tackle to center this year, and could very well become just the second player ever to win back-to-back Outland Trophies. Nebraska center Dave Rimington is the lone player to have pulled off the double in 1981-82.
The Outland Trophy finalists will be announced on Nov. 19 and the winner will be named at The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 6 on ESPN.
Alabama offensive tackle D.J. Fluker, guard Chance Warmack and defensive tackle Jesse Williams are also on the watch list.
The SEC leads this category in candidates with 19 linemen. The Big Ten follows with 12.
