Andrew Bone takes a closer look at the Top 60 players in the state of Alabama prior to the 2011 season.

37. DeVonta Staples
Safety
6-foot-2, 190-pounds
Valley High School

2010 stats: Staples had 115 tackles, one interception and two forced fumbles. He added 460 kickoff return yards and one kickoff returned for a touchdown.

Recruitment: Staples has collected scholarship offers from Illinois, Kentucky, Marshall and South Alabama. He will camp at Alabama and Auburn in July.

Staples says, "The schools I really like right now are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky and Ole Miss."
