Tide awaits summer decisions...

The University of Alabama has assembled one of the best recruiting classes in the country. Twelve commitments in the class of 2012, but Tide fans are anxiously awaiting for the next one to pull the trigger.

Keep an eye out of for a few big names this summer.

Jameis Winston

Winston will announce his decision more than likely in July. He plans to take several trips this summer, but the schools who appear out front for his signature include Alabama, Florida State and LSU. Winston has a great relationship with coaches at all three schools. Alabama has recruited him the longest, and Winston has made countless trips to Tuscaloosa. The odds-on favorite has always been the Crimson Tide, but Florida State and LSU have made up significant ground in the last few months. Winston plans to play football and baseball at the next level.

Justin Shanks

Shanks has two teammates already committed to the Tide in Justin Thomas and Caleb Gulledge. It appears the Alabama coaching staff has made Shanks a top priority. Auburn has made up ground, but Alabama is still in the best position to land the state's top defensive lineman.

Ricky Parks

The nation's No. 2 tight end returned from Big Cat Weekend at Auburn saying the Tigers may have the lead over Alabama and Georgia for his signature. He expects to announce a decision in the near future. Alabama has been very successful in the Peach State this year and have high hopes in landing the elite prospect.

Shaq Roland

After failing to land Jadeveon Clowney in last year's class Alabama hopes to reel in South Carolina's top in-state player in 2012 after failing to land Jadeveon Clowney in last year's class. Roland plans to make a decision before the season. His four finalists include Alabama, Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. The Gamecocks are considered the team to beat.

Gunner Kiel

The nation's No. 1 quarterback is uncertain on a time-frame for a decision. The last time the No. 1 quarterback in the country waited until during or after the season to make his college choice was Terrelle Pryor in 2008. Kiel is not listing any favorites at this time, but Alabama and Oklahoma appear as frontrunners. Kiel visited Alabama twice this spring including a recent trip after the April 27 tornado. The signal caller might wait to make a decision, but there's a strong possibility he decides before the season.

Chris Black

Black visited Tuscaloosa twice this spring, and his parents joined him on the trips. Black's interest has increased after each trip. The eight hour drive home has remained his only issue. Black's other favorites include Florida and Florida State with the Seminoles considered the team to beat before his first trip to Alabama. A decision is expected sometime this summer.
